Hot on the heals of the Gatsby – Gordon Smith’s first new model in decades – comes the stunning new Griffin. This Griffin Flip Launch Edition is presented in a Satin Austin Blue colorway with color-matched reverse headstock and Ebony fretboard. As with the Gatsby, there’s a familiarity to the Griffin, yet with a unique Gordon Smith look and feel that’s all its own. It packs two GS Home Wound P90s with Chrome Covers, complemented by a shorter 24.75” scale length. Gordon Smith’s brass nut is present and correct, while a Tunomatic bridge and stop bar keeps everything in check at the other end.
Supplied in a padded Gig Bag, the Gordon Smith Griffin Flip Launch Edition is now available from Je Matt Guitar, online and in our Los Angeles store. As with every guitar we sell, it will receive a full professional set up before it goes out the door. We ship fast to the US, Europe and Worldwide.
GORDON SMITH GRIFFIN FLIP LAUNCH EDITION – AUSTIN BLUE
Where the 25.5” scale, bolt on Gatsby marked a slight off piste diversion for Gordon Smith, the Griffin is a return to the company’s bread and butter: set neck guitars with a 24.75” scale. Gordon Smith’s Home Wound P90s offer thick, characterful tone, augmenting the naturally beefy output of the shorter scale length. The mahogany body and neck complete this tonal package, while remaining remarkably lightweight for those longer hours on stage or in the studio.
As with every modern Gordon Smith, the Griffin Flip is a joy to play, boasting perfectly even medium jumbo frets, set into an Ebony fretboard. The satin-finished GS thin-profile neck is matched by a 12” fretboard radius, making string-bends completely intuitive and choke-free. The hardware is more than a match for the build quality, with Gotoh SG381 machines providing smooth, slip free tuning.
